Yakutia and Irkutsk Gas Production Centers
On October 29, 2012 President Vladimir Putin instructed the general manager of Gazprom to start the construction of the pipeline. The pipeline is expected to cost 770 billion roubles (225 Million USD) and the investment in gas production 430 billion roubles (126 Million USD). It is expected to be operational by 2019. Capacity of the 56-inch (1,400 mm) pipeline would be up to 61 billion cubic metres per annum (2.2×1012 cu ft/a) of natural gas. 38 billion cubic metres per annum (1.3×1012 cu ft/a) would be supplied to China.
Gas production in Yakutia (based on the Chayandinskoye field, gas reserves – 1.2 trillion cubic meters) will evolve as a unified complex with production in the Irkutsk Region (based on the Kovyktinskoye field, gas reserves – 1.5 trillion cubic meters) whose resources will be put into production at the next stage.
