Gas pipeline Sakhalin – Khabarovsk – Vladivostok

Employer: LLC “PeterGaz”
Gas pipeline length: 1830 km
Length of first complex: 1350 km
Full design capacity: 37 billion m³ per year
Design capacity of first complex: 6 billion m³ per year

Sakhalin — Khabarovsk — Vladivostok gas transportation system is being constructed with the aim to implement «Program of establishing a unified system of production, transportation and supply of gas considering possible export of gas to the markets of China and other countries of the
Asia-Pacific region» adopted by the Ministry of Industry and Energy of the RF.

The gas transmission network Sakhalin — Khabarovsk — Vladivostok allowed supplying gas to consumers of Khabarovsk and Primorye Territories, Sakhalin Region, including facilities of the summit meeting of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation — 2012. Full development of the system will give the opportunity to transport up to 35–37 bln. m3 of gas annually. The main resource base for the gas transmission network will be the fields of the Sakhalin continental shelf.
The total length of the gas transportation system Sakhalin — Khabarovsk — Vladivostok is 1830 km. The first phase of commissioning of the gas pipeline with the capacity of 6 bln. m3 of gas per year and the length of 1350 km was brought into operation in September 2011. LLC «STROYGAZMONTAZH» was the general contractor of LLC «Gazprom invest Vostok» for the construction of the linear part of the gas pipeline (540 km), as well as for building the Sakhalin head compressor station.
The complexity of the project was related to the fact, that the sections of the SGM Group of Companies are located in three different regions: in Sakhalin, Khabarovsk and Primorye Territories.
Almost a half of the pipeline route — about 240 km (in the areas of construction of LLC «SGM») — was laid in the earthquake-prone areas. The system of geotechnical monitoring was installed there, which allows to continuously monitor ground and pipe movements.
In the Khabarovsk Territory almost one third of the trunk gas pipeline crossed rocky grounds, therefore during construction it was necessary to perform drilling and blasting works.
128 km of the gas pipeline were installed in the mountainous terrain of Primorye Territory, being characterized by significant altitude differences. In Primorye and Khabarovsk Territories the route of the gas pipeline crosses the zones of active tectonic fractures, what was also taken into account during the selection of construction technologies.
